Welcome to Millbeck

Millbeck, our Georgian home, is over 250 years old and is in the Lake District National Park, one of the most beautiful landscapes in the country, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The property is in the heart of the quiet and unspoilt Vale of Lorton. The beautiful lakes of Buttermere, Crummock Water and Loweswater are nearby

There are uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside from the garden and most of the rooms. Millbeck is surrounded by lovely gardens, including a traditional wild flower meadow with shepherd’s hut – the perfect place to sit and take in the views

This is wonderful walking country and there are numerous rambles from the doorstep to suit walkers of all ages and abilities. Visit our sister site Andrew’s Walks for hundreds of routes in all areas of the Lake District

The garden and surrounding meadows are a paradise for wildlife. Red squirrels are seen in the garden most days. Other garden visitors seen here include hedgehog, fox, stoat, weasel and hare. Bird watchers will enjoy looking out for the usual garden visitors, and also a few unusual ones, including the endangered spotted flycatcher and pied flycatcher which nest in and around the garden. The surrounding fields are home to curlew, barn owls and skylarks, and other inhabitants include otter, polecat, badger and deer
